Her university studies and her career in community development have allowed Michelle to champion social justice and financial security both in her community and internationally. Eventually, her experience brought her to Zambia, where she worked to better the lives of girls with HIV/AIDS. As a passionate speaker, Michelle continues to be a strong voice for the Kootenays. Michelle and her partner Zak reside in their Nelson home. They enjoy skiing, hiking, local arts and being active in the region. What People Are Saying“Michelle knows it’s about making a difference. Michelle wants to get things done.” “…the replacement for the venerable Corky Evans, a woman named Michelle Mungall. I think she’s really one to watch. She’s, I think, 31, 32 years old, a real dynamo.” "If Mungall and children's commissioner Mary Ellen Turpel-Lafond hadn't raised hell -- and if the media hadn't paid attention -- I doubt these nameless victims of violence would have seen their funding restored." “How unusual and wonderful to have someone who, in their first year of office, could focus on something rather than simply avoiding embarrassment. For the rest of us, we had to learn some skill sets to do the work. Whereas Michelle seems to have been born with those skill sets.” “…Mungall is going to make a significant impact this next decade. By the time we head to the polls for a provincial election mid-decade, she could very well be one of the leading voices of her party. And regardless of your political stripe, that prospect should be welcome news for folks in the Nelson-Creston riding.”
